Jakarta Strengthens Creative Economy Through Coffee Industry

Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to continuously strengthening creative economy ecosystem, including the coffee industry, through support for young talents, expanding market access for MSMEs, and developing coffee tourism corridors.

This statement was affirmed by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno during the opening of the Jakarta International Coffee Conference (JICC) 2025 at the A. A. Maramis Building, Ministry of Finance, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6).

On this occasion, Rano shared his thoughts on philosophy behind a cup of coffee, which carries a long journey of farmer's dedication.

"A cup of coffee holds a long journey, about the dedication of farmers. A meticulous process, as well as art and inspiration born from its unique aroma and flavor. Through this conference, we celebrate the richness of experience as well as the spirit of creativity that grows around it," he said.

He mentioned that the Jakarta Provincial Government is proud to host JICC 2025, which brings together coffee industry players from upstream to downstream. 

Rano noted that this moment offers a space to collaborate, build relationships, and develop a coffee ecosystem that is inclusive, innovative, and globally competitive.

"JICC demonstrates Jakarta's readiness to host various national and international events, and affirms its role as a collaborative, competitive, and sustainable city," he added.

Rano also invited all parties to strengthen cross-sector collaboration so that Jakarta's and Indonesia's distinctive coffee becomes more recognized and valued, both nationally and globally.

"We are committed to ensure that every coffee bean brings prosperity to farmers, entrepreneurs, and the wider community," he stated.

For your information, JICC 2025, which runs from November 6 to 8, features various activities such as inspiring discussions with speakers from both domestic and international backgrounds, as well as educational sessions and capacity-building programs for industry players.

There are also the SCAI Awards honoring Indonesian coffee professionals and the Art & Exhibition which showcases creative works and innovations in the coffee industry.

Next up is the prestigious Indonesia Latte Art Championship 2025/2026, showcasing the nation's best baristas. The event also features promotional activities under the Coffee Market, along with Soundpesso, an entertainment that integrates music, relaxation, creativity, and community.
